K2SO & Cassian - An acrylic painting on gessoed art paper.

K2SO & Cassian

One of my favorite Star Wars movies is Rogue One, and a big part of the enjoyment comes from the interaction and relationship K2S0 has with Cassian Andor. K2’s helmet is deceptively difficult to nail down because of the way the holes in the metal around his eyes are cut. Depending on the angle of his head, the holes can appear oval or circular even slanting down or up. Understanding how geometrics form appear in three dimensions can really help improve your artwork as can understanding how light plays against round shapes, such as K2’s dome. Life-drawing of simple geometric objects such as fruit, drinking glasses, of little boxes can help you make big improvements.
