Rapunzel’s Tower
Sipping coffee from Gaston’s Tavern, I painted while seated at the tables in the Tangled area of Magic Kingdom, It was a wonderful day to be in the park - the fire was crisp, the sky was so blue, crowd levels were low.. I snapped reference shots of the tower with my Nikon D7200, trying my best to catch its angles just right. Back in my studio, I worked the digital painting, brushing in a dreamy glow that carried a twinge of sadness—Rapunzel’s gone from this place—yet a quiet joy that she’s free, no longer caged.

Some photos from the reference-trip to Magic Kingdom. It was a beautiful day (a bit cold) and I was able to gather the pics and even do a preliminary group of sketches from an idyllic spot near Walt Disney World’s best restrooms (if you know, you know).
